Despite extending their unbeaten run to eight games with a 5-2 win over Cornard, other results mean the Tangerines will have to stay put.

Yarmouth returned to the top of Division One with a little help from their east coast rivals Gorleston.

The Bloaters beat Stowmarket 2-0 with goals from Gavin Norman and Stewart Roach in the second half while Gorleston won 2-0 at morning leaders Brantham (Peter Lambert, Steve Taylor). Brantham went down to nine men in the first half with two sendings-off.

A disappointing goal-less first half saw Yarmouth have just one shot on goal but Norman struck within a minute of the restart. Sub Stewart Roach doubled the lead just after the hour, heading in a Marcus Saunders cross after a Scott Woodcock corner.

But Yarmouth's lead at the top may be short-lived, with Brantham and FC Clacton playing each other on Tuesday - a win for either will take the winner to the top.

Diss put five past visitors Cornard, with a hat-trick by Jordan Rocastle.

Craig Skipp opened the scoring and a second followed when Brendan Foley sent Rocastle racing on to a through-ball to float the ball over the keeper. Then a corner from Stuart Garner was headed on by Foley for Rocastle to turn and shoot home.

Rocastle completed his hat-trick after heading past Walker near the edge of the penalty area. With both players in a heap on the ground the ball rolled into the net. The collision meant Rocastle couldn't continue and Walker was shown a yellow card.

Cornard broke quickly to pull a goal back. Jamie Clark hit his shot against a post and Dan Mansa followed up to put the loose ball into the net.

Diss made it 5-1 late on when Mark Shadrack sent a shot low into the net from a free-kick 22 yards out. The ball clipped the wall and went in despite Walker getting a hand to it. Cornard pulled another goal back when Sam Holeman sent a fine low shot home.

Swaffham returned from Team Bury with a 1-0 win after a fast and furious game. A corner was headed in by Stephen Thompson.

Downham lost at home 2-1 to Long Melford, Fakenham were 3-1 losers to visiting Halstead (Jordan Pentney) although the scoreline doesn't reflect the play. Thetford lost at Saffron Walden 2-1 (Matt Dixon penalty).

Godmanchester and Whitton drew 1-1 and FC Clacton beat hosts March Town United 2-0.
