A farm on the Norfolk and Suffolk border is aiming to reduce food miles and support local businesses with a new shop, café and butchery.

Warren Hill Farm is located along the Waveney Valley in Oakley, near Diss, and it is now run by fifth-generation farmers and siblings George West, 28, and Jessica Tomson, 25.

A planning application is being submitted this week to Mid-Suffolk District Council for a shop, café and butchery at the farm, which has cows, pigs, sheep and crops.

Mr West said: "Events in recent years, such as Covid and the Ukraine war, have highlighted the need to reduce food miles and it will be amazing to offer locals food from farm to fork.

"We will showcase not only the food grown on our farm but from other farmers and local artisan businesses."

The café would serve hot and cold drinks, lunches, afternoon tea and more.

Mr West added: "Everyone we have spoken to locally is really supportive and we are confident we will get through the hurdles of planning permission."
