Independent, family-run business CSN Autos won the South Norfolk Small Business of the Year at the Broadland and South Norfolk Business Awards 2024.
Established in 2013, CSN Autos began as a father and son business offering car repairs, maintenance and servicing from its headquarters in Wymondham. From humble beginnings in one small unit, over the past 10 years the business has gone from strength to strength and now employees 10 members of staff.
And the team at CSN Autos recently had cause to celebrate after it won South Norfolk Small Business of the Year at the Broadland and South Norfolk Business Awards 2024.
“It was a fantastic achievement for me and the team,” said managing director Chris Newell. “The whole team attended the awards ceremony at Carrow Road and it was a great event to network with some other great business owners.”
The judges said that they were “wowed” by CSN Autos’ focused management team, dedication to customer service and ambitious plans for the future. It overcame stiff competition from other finalists including Jims South Norfolk Ice Cream and Superior Garden Buildings.
CSN Autos offers everything from MOTs, tyre-fitting and manufacturer warranty servicing to clutch replacement, oil checking and brakes inspections. It services all makes and models of cars but specialises in Ford and Volkswagen Group vehicles and works hard to ensure that all customers receive the same high standards expected from original automotive manufacturers or dealerships – but at reduced prices.
It also offers Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) calibration and is one of the few garages based in Norfolk with a team of specialist technicians qualified to work on electric and hybrid vehicles.
Chris says that his business strives to stay ahead of the competition by keeping up to date with industry developments and, most importantly, empowering its team.
“Staff training is the most important investment I have made,” said Chris. “We want to be at the top of our game and to deliver the best experience and options for our customers.”
CSN Autos technicians are trained to Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) and Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) standards.
“In our industry, the customer experience is very important,” Chris said. “We constantly strive to stay ahead of changes and advancements in technology and ensure we constantly focus on how we can improve the customer’s journey and experience.”
Chris said that despite having so many local garages on the doorstep, it isn’t always easy to find a garage that customers can trust.
“CSN Autos and many other great garages across the country are determined to change this by making the whole process as smooth and stress-free as possible, whilst being able to offer transparency in what we do.”
Looking to the future, Chris and the team are building the business’ infrastructure to expand not only its premises, but also its footprint and customer base in Norfolk.
“We plan to expand and take on further units at our current location, while continuing to invest in the latest automotive technology for our Wymondham workshop.”
