9 of the best farm shops to visit in south Norfolk

1. Church Farm Shop

Where: Norwich Road, Hethersett, NR9 3AS

This popular business was recently named the best farm shop/deli in Norfolk at the public-voted Muddy Stilettos Awards 2024. 

It is jam-packed with local goodies and it also features a homemade cake cabinet with a great selection of treats.

2. Goodies Food Hall

Where: Wood Lane, Pulham, IP21 4XU

Located just off the A140 between Long Stratton and Diss, this large food hall includes a butchery, bakery and a cheese and deli counter.

The restaurant serves breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon tea and it opens one Friday evening a month with a special dinner menu.

3. Old Hall Farm

Where: Norwich Road, Woodton, NR35 2LP

This farm-to-fork shop specialises in raw milk, butter, ice cream and more from its herd of 100pc pasture-fed Jersey cows. 

There are also meat and deli counters, products from local brands such as Farmyard Frozen and Marsh Pig and a café.

4. Rookery Meadows

Where: Rookery Farm, Great Ellingham, NR17 1LB

The Rookery Meadows Farm Shop opened in 2021, after the success of a drive-thru one during the pandemic, and it stocks fruit and vegetables, cheeses, eggs and much more. 

Events are also held at the farm, including a popular Halloween pumpkin patch.

5. Paddock Farm Shop

Where: Norwich Road, Mulbarton, NR14 8JT

This family-owned farm shop uses more than 35 East Anglian suppliers, including Ketts Hill Bakery for fresh bread. 

It also boasts a great selection of quality plants and cut flowers.

6. Green Pastures Plant Centre & Farm Shop

Where: Mill Road, Bergh Apton, NR15 1BQ

This independent garden centre, farm shop and restaurant is located along the A146. 

It sells pies, quiches, sausage rolls and cakes made in-house and a fresh fish van is at the site every Friday.

7. Aldis & Sons Farm Shop & Cafe

Where: Church Farm, Framingham Earl, NR14 7PE

It is more a case of food metres than miles as many of the products have been grown or reared on the farm, including vegetables and lamb.

Alongside this is an array of other items from local suppliers and the café serves all-day breakfasts, cakes, pastries and lunchtime specials.

8. Orchard Farm Shop

Where: Orchard Farm, Holverston, NR14 7PH

This shop with an on-site butcher sells meat produced on the farm and from the local area. 

Pigs have been reared there since 1971 and as well as meats you can also buy a range of preserves.

9. Hillfield Nursery & Farm Shop

Where: Mill Lane, Thorpe-Next-Haddiscoe, NR14 6PA

Set in 30 acres of Norfolk countryside, Hillfield sells quality plants and local food and drink products, including its own apple juice, fruit and vegetables. 

You can also pick your own fruit from May to October, with updates on what is in season on social media.
