Norfolk Arts Awards 2024 winners and runners up announced

The annual event celebrates the very best of arts and culture from across the county.

For the first time, all the winners were chosen by the public, with thousands of votes cast.

1. The Business and the Arts Award - Supported by Mortgages for Actors

WINNER: The Garage Trust 

The Garage Trust provides educational programmes, supports artist development and co-produces performances for children.

RUNNER UP: Norwich Lanes Summer Fayre

2. The Dick Condon Theatre Award - Supported by The Garage

WINNER: Norwich Theatre

Norwich Theatre offers live performances and creative activities.

RUNNER UP: Norwich Puppet Theatre

3. The Visual Arts Award - Supported by City College Norwich

WINNER: Sainsbury Centre

The Sainsbury Centre is a world-class art museum.

4. The Jarrold New Writing Award - Supported by the John Jarrold Trust

WINNER: Incubate by Norwich Theatre, in association with UEA

Incubate promotes and develops new scriptwriting and supporting artists.

RUNNER UP: Horse Play by Katie-anna Whiting

5. The Music Award - Supported by Norwich School

WINNER: Kimberley Moore

A singer, musician and composer.

6. The Broadcast and Media Award - Supported by the University of East Anglia

WINNER: SoundYard

SoundYard teaches audio production and creates podcasts.

RUNNER UP: Future Radio

7. The John Hawksley Dance and Musical Theatre Award - Supported by Jane Hawksley

WINNER: The Garage Trust

The Garage Trust runs dance activities and courses for all ages and abilities.

RUNNER UP: Triple Threat Stage School

8. The Education and Community Award - Supported by Norwich Theatre

WINNER: Norwich Puppet Theatre

A multi-art venue and theatre company.

9. The Peter Barrow Bursary Award - Supported by The PBSK Partnership

WINNER: Amelia Stephanides

Co-founder and creative director of SOUP Promotions.

10. The Norfolk Icon Award - Supported by Houghton Hall & Gardens

WINNER: Roger Taylor

Queen drummer Roger Taylor was born and spent his early childhood in King’s Lynn. 

11. The Peter Wilson Special Recognition Award - In association with the Lord Lieutenant’s Office

Peter has worked in the Norwich theatre scene for many years.

12. The Lifetime Acheivement Award

WINNER: Debbie Thompson

Debbie Thompson began her career as an actor, before joining Sheringham Little Theatre as a youth outreach officer in the 90s, eventually working her way up to director. 

Since 2016, she has also worked with St George’s Theatre in Great Yarmouth.
