A Norfolk road was closed for five hours after a car smashed into a bridge.

The car struck the crossing in Railway Hill in Starston at around 9.30am on Tuesday with  the emergency services called out shortly after.

Fire crews from Harleston and Long Stratton used hydraulic rescue equipment to free the driver.

Ambulances crews then checked them over but they were not taken to hospital.

The damaged car stayed at the scene for five hours before being recovered at 2.30pm.

Highways officials closed a part of the road and managed traffic with temporary lights.
