Colder weather is set to hit Norfolk next week with the Met Office warning of "winter hazards".

After a mild start to November, the county will now face colder temperatures and bouts of rain as Arctic air sweeps across the UK.

The thermometer could drop to -2C in some parts of Norfolk with a chance of wintry showers.

A spokesman for the Met Office said: "Norfolk’s weather will be turning markedly colder late in the weekend and into the start of next week.

"From Sunday, the snow risk that people might have been reading about is likely further north, in the high ground of Scotland and northern England.

"For Norfolk, it’ll be a wet and cool day, with persistent rain likely through the day, which is in contrast to the dry start to November."

A northerly airflow is predicted to help pull a cold pool of air over the country with a possibility to create "winter hazards" from Sunday onwards.

"This means there’s a possibility of further winter hazards through next week," he added.

"But it’s too early to make any specific predictions about any potential snow."
