The players of Fakenham Town are determined to make Wayne Anderson's Ghosts' swansong a winning one.

The 40-year-old will take charge of the club for the final time at FC Clacton this afternoon after deciding to end his five-year reign at Clipbush Park to become the boss of lower-level First Division side Dereham Town Reserves. While opinion may be split on the timing of his departure, Stephen Harvey is certain he and his team-mates will want to end their departing manager's hugely successful reign on a high.

The versatile former King's Lynn defender said: 'It is understandable that he wants to take the opportunity now but I think we all would have liked for him to see it through until the end of the season to see how we could have kicked on.

'But I think you can tell by our last five or six results that we've had (one win, one draw, four defeats) that we sort of felt it (Anderson's exit) might have been coming. I do know all of the players will want to sign off Wayne's last game with a win and three points though.

'But more than that as a squad, and personally, I feel it's about time we got back on track and started to achieve some of the performance levels we reached earlier in the season.'

Premier Division leaders Norwich United can take another big step towards the championship when they host third-placed Stanway. The Blofield club won 2-1 at home against title rivals Godmanchester last weekend and were presented with the Thurlow Nunn League 'performance award' for December and January before kick-off.

The prize put £150 into the club's coffers and earned a £100 charity donation, which has been given to the fund of former Planters player Dave Bloomfield, who is recovering from the effects of surgery to remove a brain tumour.

Elsewhere, relegation-threatened Diss Town host Newmarket and Thetford Town welcome Mildenhall.

In the second tier, league leaders Swaffham Town will aim to keep up their hugely impressive form at Debenham LC. Paul Hunt's table-toppers have won their last eight First Division matches to power past Long Melford and Saffron Walden in the quest for glory.

Fellow top-three hopefuls Great Yarmouth Town, fourth, are adopting a 'pay what you want' entry initiative for their home showdown with fifth-placed Haverhill Borough.

Dereham's second-string visit Cornard, Downham Town host Team Bury Reserves while King's Lynn Town Reserves make the short trip into Cambridgeshire to take on improving March Town United.

In the UCL Premier Division, Wisbech Town, second and seven points behind AFC Rushden & Diamonds with a game in hand, host AFC Kempston Rovers.
