Diss Town failed to take advantage of the many good chances they created and were punished for two defensive mistakes as they were beaten for a sixth league match in a row.

The Friday evening game was played in windy conditions on a pitch that had recovered well after heavy morning rain at the FDC Bowthorpe.

Will Goulding headed inches over when Stephen Vincent sent a free-kick in from the right after 10 minutes. Two minutes later Asa Swatman made a brilliant point range save to deny Vincent after Paul Betson played a fine through ball to Keiron Hagan, with Virgilio Leitao putting the loose ball narrowly wide.

The Tangerines were punished when Jack Tipple gave the ball away just inside his own half in the 14th minute. This led to a quick CBS break with Sam Last racing back to try and cover, but his sliding tackle sent Stephen Drake crashing to the floor and Daniel Barraclough scored from the spot.

CBS had a good spell and in the 22nd minute a move down the left resulted in the ball being pulled back for Karl Horton in space and he fired home from the edge of the area to increase the lead.

Diss replied with Goulding having a goal-bound shot blocked after Stacey Payne and Last linked up down the left. In the next attack Goulding played the ball for Leitao to move into the penalty area and force Swatman to use his feet to block the shot, with Leitao putting the rebound wide. In the 33rd minute Diss applied more pressure; Leitao played the ball for Hagan to shoot and the loose ball resulted in Vincent having his shot kicked off the line.

With just over 20 minutes to play CBS were reduced to 10 men. Jordan King kicked the ball away after a free-kick award and the yellow card added to the one received for scything down Payne early in the game.

Diss had strong claims for a 76th minute penalty denied when a good left wing cross saw a centre from Betson blocked by an outstretched arm. Last pulled a goal back when turning the ball in from five yards out in the 86th minute following a good spell of Diss pressure but it was too little, too late.

Diss Under-18s lost 6-1 at home to Gorleston, with Cameron Wing curling in a 25-yard equaliser, while Diss Under-15 Hawks beat Costessey 6-1 (Joe Hilton, Jack Glen, Ben Clements, Kieran Gallen, Tommy Seymour, Terry Payne).
